Core
Knowledge,
a collaborative and seamless education program,
has been selected to augment the Indiana State
Academic Standards for students in Grades K-8.
PSoE-CFA has partnered with a national Core
Knowledge consultant to develop, across each
grade level, thematic projects based units that
integrates content across all subject areas and
maximizes technology.
The
units will serve as a resource for teachers and
a foundation from which to develop future units
that align with the Core Knowledge
Sequence. Intervention and enrichment of content
will occur through technological resources. K12,
a research based online curricular resource,
provides a platform of instructional materials
and resources, which are available through the
use of technology. Since Core Knowledge
is designed to be the basis of about 50% of the
schools curriculum, it provides a solid
coherent foundation for learning, while allowing
flexibility to meet and exceed the Indiana State
Standards.
The
State Standards and the Core Knowledge
curriculum will be aligned to assure that each
student is meeting the basic education standards
as set forth by the state and receiving the
enrichment options that are the trademark of a
well-integrated program design. Core Knowledge
provides the guidelines for teachers to
accommodate every student at all levels. Through
technology, resources for engaging students will
be provided, and the doors to the world opened
through a rich, literacy based curricula.
