Imagine a school where intuitive technology and discovery guides learning. A classroom with computers built within the child’s desk and where teachers’ interactive white boards prompt student engagement and response. Imagine a school campus with a commitment to operating as a ‘green’ initiative that teaches children the importance of respecting their environment; developing knowledge and wisdom as a foundation for learning. This is the vision of Paramount School of Excellence (PSoE), an innovative urban charter school launching fall 2010.
PSoE offers a unique vision for developing students as caring young adults that respect themselves, their environment and learn as independent thinkers. Through intuitive curricular design, students will receive a broad palette of integrated subject matter that will enable them to have a solid foundation for real world problem solving.
The school is the vision of Michelle Thompson, Ph.D., Education and Charter School Leader, and Dimitri S. Snowden, Informatic Specialist and Business Analyst. Stepping outside the box that defines traditional public education, the school puts to practice strategies outlined in Clayton Christensen’s Disrupting Class — How Disruptive Innovation Will Change the Way the World Learns.
This blog was created to share our vision and grow the excitement for a school model that engages students and truly changes the way we think about education. We invite you to join us in the journey.
